Chavekka Edwards

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Supervisor

Chavekka Edwards has eight years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families as well as children. She treats clients with anxiety-related disorders, depression, postpartum depression, anger management, trauma, domestic abuse, and workplace issues. Chavekka utilizes a cognitive behavioral and client-centered approach. Her early job experience includes working as a behavioral tech in a hospital crisis stabilization unit, a residential treatment facility for adults and children, and a group home where she was eventually promoted to lead tech. After assisting the clinical director of a therapeutic group home for emotionally disturbed individuals, she made the decision to alter her career path. Chavekka extensive work history has helped her gain an understanding of different cultures and personal challenges while taking an empathetic and supportive approach. She attended Barry University and received a Master of Science in counseling with a dual specialization in marriage and family and mental health counseling in 2016. She developed her therapeutic skills throughout the years by working with children, adults, and families to help them learn how to effectively manage and get past emotional, mental, and behavioral health problems. In addition, Chavekka has worked with foster children, dependency cases, co-parenting, individuals transferring to residential treatment, and couples therapy.
